"So Janeites, inspired by modern comedic brilliance, and Miss Austen’s character Emma Woodhouse who demands from each of you “one thing very clever, be it prose or verse, original or repeated — or two things moderately clever — or three things very dull indeed, and she engages to laugh heartily at them all“, I put to you my top ten reasons to read Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, again, - and challenge you to add your share!"

The Top 10 Albums of 1988 by Andrew Womack - The Morning News

May 2nd, 2008

"After years of denial by my parents, in February of 1988 I was finally allowed to go to my first concert. It was stipulated, however, that my older brother had to go with me, I had to be home by a certain time, and couldn’t smoke grass. (The last stipulation was implied.) I hadn’t been a true Yes fanatic in years, but they were playing in Houston and my brother was coming home from college and wanted to go, and after missing every touring band I’d wanted to see play live (Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, among others), I was determined to see the inside of an arena, no matter who was rocking it. And I would buy a T-shirt."

Orant: Theology for Sojourners: Top 10 things you should know before arguing about Intelligent Design

May 2nd, 2008

"I haven’t seen the movie Expelled. But I have been engaged with the issues involved in intelligent design, and creation science for some time now. I am continually frustrated by both Christians, and non-Christians on the issue of Intelligent Design. I personally believe in God, but am of the opinion that in Public schools God should be taught in world view and religion classes, not classes that teach the empirical sciences. This is not a view I have always held. I used to be a staunch “Young Earth” creationist that believed that the world was created in Six 24 Hour periods, and thought that this is what should be taught in schools. Much has changed in my life since then, but I think I understand most sides of this issue pretty well."

Top 10 Online Retailers by Conversion Rate: March 2008

April 29th, 2008

"Last month, when Snapfish and Vistaprint found their way to February’s list (at the #1 and #2 spots respectively), Bryan wondered whether they were being tracked for the first time or if they had done something specific to move the needle. Although Vistaprint has slipped to #3 on this month’s list, their conversion rate has actually gone up. Snapfish, meanwhile, has dropped off entirely."

Top 10 Strangest Keyboards

April 29th, 2008

"A year or so ago, computer keyboards with LED backlighting, wireless capabilities, and ergonomic designs were a bit, well, curious to me. It took awhile, but my feelings have changed. I’ve learned that LED backlighting can be quite helpful when computing in low-light situations, not to mention that it’s fun for gamers. USB keyboards just add to the messy tangle of cables, so a wireless-enabled keyboard makes perfect sense to me. And I’m in love with my ergonomic keyboard; no more wrist strain!"
